The Smell of Fall
October 5th, 2009 by Chef Christi

Who doesn’t love the smell of cinnamon and spice and everything nice!  It is the amazing color of falling leaves, crisp air, and the desire to make 101 things with pumpkin and cloves!

Sweet potatoes, hearty root vegetables, anything you can make savory or sweet, this is the signs of fall.  Get creative this year.  Branch out into new aroma’s to fill your kitchen.  What are your favorite recipes that you can spice up and make new?  I would love to here from you.

Let’s make turkey new, and mashed potatoes a new smash!!  Think of a recipe that maybe a passed love one used to make, and bring it back to life.  My great grandmother always had something perking or baking this time of year!  Oh, the memories!

Let’s make memories together.  Share some of you grandmothers recipes, and a story to go along with that memory!  Let’s start warming up the season, with love, passion, and wonderful family past times!  Welcome to Fall!!

Have you ever use leeks in with red potates? I started to use them and adds a different taste and texture. Looking for other good ideas.

Leeks have such an amazing flavor! They also add a different texture and visual appeal within your dish. I think they compliment red potatoes very much and are under used. I recommend using them instead of onions to bring new life to a dish. Home cooks are not sure what to do with them, and I think they need some appreciation. Embrace your red potatoes, and introduce them to the leek! I bet they will become great friends!
